Transitioning to BEE Ride 2009

Written by Salem on Nov 6th, 2008 and posted in All topics

Hey all,

This is Salem, I’ll be leading the BEE 2009 Ride.  While I know it’s still early, I’m trying to get a head-start on recruiting people for next year’s event, especially as I know 2 months is a lot of time to commit.  I’ve been sending out information to JET Program participants via AJET and individual prefectural listrserves throughout the country, and I’ve already been in contact with a handful of interested part & full-time riders.  If anyone else wants to volunteer to help/participate on the 2009 ride, or even if you can’t but know people who want to, please pass the word along and get in contact with me at coordinator@beejapan.org.

Peace,

Salem

  2. Hey Salem,

Greetings from the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont ! St. Johnsbury to be exact so you might want to use Google Earth if you aren’t familiar with New England.

I was the first MEF (Mombusho English Fellow pre-JET program) in Matumoto, Nagano-ken from 1982-1984. Would I still qualify to participate in your ride ?
I teach Japanese to high school students here, but I have been granted a sabbatical year and was hoping to spend some time in Japan biking. I want to post my experiences to keep in touch with my students here in Vermont if possible.

I love skiing and biking (rode the Cherry Hill NJ to Ocean City NJ MS 150 in September). Off to spinning class now to stay in shape so I hope I won’t slow the group down. ;-)

Hope your organizing is going well and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Cheers,

    Chip Mesics
