BEE Japan: First 2009 event a success!
Written by Salem on Apr 15th, 2009 and posted in 2009, NewsEveryone who came out to the North Biwako Hanami Fun-ride had a good time, even on the hottest day of the year (so far at least)! We got to tour a little over 40 km of North Lake country with plenty of sakura, and we uncovered quite a bit of trash in the process. Everyone surprised me in their quest to uncover a lot of garbage that had been, ironically, neatly bagged, tied, and dumped along the riverside & lakeside where we were riding. We actually gathered more than expected––almost more than we could carry!
Outside of BEE 2009 Riders, Lindsey, Ashley, and myself, a total of 18 Shiga JETs, friends, and even a couple of my students came out to support BEE and get some hearty exercise. Masa, who works for JA (Japan Agriculture) in Yokaichi, also became the first person to buy one of the new BEE Japan t-shirts (which will be available for sale here on the website very soon!)
Thanks again everyone for your support! Looking forward to having even better turnouts at the upcoming Nagoya and Nagahama Earth Day clean-ups!
Peace,
Salem
