Greetings from Wakkanai!

After months of intense preparation, the team is finally together in Wakkanai, the northernmost city of Japan! The photo above was taken in front of the Wakkanai train station, shortly after we all met in one place for the first time.
We are working hard to make sure that all of our gear is ready for our journey through Japan to Okinawa. Wakkanai has been incredibly welcoming to all of us — stories coming soon to this site! It’s been barely 24 hours and we’ve already taken our bikes out around town, sung together at Midori House, been interviewed by a local radio station, had some culinary adventures, and even managed to blow out a tire inner tube (with no damage to anyone or anything other than said tube). It’s going to be a fantastic ride!

Hi!
Glad to see y’all together in Wakkanai, and ready to start!
Heraldo’s family in the US, Europe and Brazil will be following the trip closely. I have translated your post to Portuguese, to the benefit of some of us that don’t speak English, and will try to keep them updated as you progress through Japan.
Enjoy your riding! Tenham uma boa viagem!

Looking forward to seeing you in Higashikawa in 4 days!! Get pedaling!!
Wow – good to see everyone smiling so big!
Mmmm culinary adventures – I would assume that they involved strange seafood, but since you’re all keeping vegi.. how strange can vegi food get?
Keep smiling,
Anna
What a great start! Beware the Seafood! It’s sneaky, might drag you off to a russian merchant ship or something O_o
Be to be enjoying the ride south!
