Now you know all about the BEE Ride who don’t you join us?
There are 2 categories of rider on the BEE Ride; full team riders and solidarity riders.
The application period for the BEE Japan 2010 is now CLOSED! Please contact us if you are interested in the 2011 ride.
Full team riders
…are those riders who join the ride for more than 2 weeks. The are considered to be full team riders in the sense that they will be expected to participate and have a say in the planning of the trip no matter how long they ride for; 2 weeks of 2 months. Full team riders will be required to 70,000 yen to participate (approximately 1,00o/day, based on budgeting adjustments suggested by previous BEE Japan team leaders). This money can be fund-raised on an individual basis. As full team member you are BEE for the summer; this means living the BEE principals every day, helping do presentations and assist at events, blogging your experiences on BEE Japan.org and spreading the good work of BEE across the land. Of course you will be featured on the home page, get to organize aspects of the tour, and have full access to groups meals and accommodation.
Part-time/Solidarity riders
…are those riders who join for less than 2 weeks. They have less responsibility than full team riders and pay less to join. They will be expected to purchase a team t-shirt and pay 2,000 yen per day for every day they join topping off at 20,000 yen for up to 2 weeks. This fee covers ferries, food and accommodation. They will be expected to help as much as possible at presentations and events and blog entries. They should remember the BEE principals and try to tell people about BEE during the trip.
Costs and other
In addition to the participation fees BEE riders will have to pay for additional costs not covered by the team budget. This includes (but is not exclusive to): snacks, drinks, onsens, bikes, bike equipment, bike repairs, tents and camping gear, and transport to and from the start and finish of the ride. In the past team members have survived on 1000 to 3000 en a day of additional costs.
All team members must; provide proof of health insurance / travel insurance (including public liability), sign a liability form, provide full contact and emergency contact details and pay their participation fees no later than 1st July (for full riders).
