Bicycle for Everyone’s Earth

Colin

Hello! Coming from Scotland I'm used to hills so I'm really happy to be leading a bike tour in Japan! I became involved with environmental activities through PEPY in Cambodia during a cycle tour over 3 weeks in December 07. As an avid driver and conbini user I'm keen to learn myself and teach others how we can change towards leading environmentally friendly lives. First step; get on the bike!

Hello everyone. We are currently on our second night of WWOOF homestays in a row in Kyushu. Yesterday and today we rode through heavy rain but each night we have been greeted by warm beds and good food. We are a little worried about the Typhoon heading our way but hopefully we can make it [...]

Hello everyone!
I feel like it has been ages since I last wrote a blog post. In fact it has been ages but the time just flies by on his so it seems like just yesterday that we waved goodbye to Wakkanai and headed south on our journey.
So far we have travelled about 1400km, we`ve been [...]

We left Muroran under cover of darkness and as the good ship Venus rolled out under the Muroran Hisgashi Bridge we said goodbye to Hokkaido from the stern and turned our heads to face a new island; Honshu. For those of you who can`t remember you school geograph; there are 4 main islands on Japan [...]

Route Notes
The road over the hill to Takikawa is about 20km of uphill at 2% then you run downhill to the 233 and 275 intersection (there is a great farm stall here). We headed for Takikawa, some on the main roads and some on the river cycling road. The cycling path is very confusing and [...]
