Bicycle for Everyone’s Earth

Emi

Hey there, my name is Emi. I've spent the last 6 months teaching High School English, exploring mountains, learning how to communicate and biking (getting lost) around Kasukabe, Saitama. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, it's been a wonderful journey of learning and appreciation here in Japan. I am a lover of warm drinks, bicycle shorts and listening to stories. B.E.E. is going to be another great way to explore Japan, my mother's home country, and I am looking forward to the exciting road ahead! Let's go start a 2-wheeled revolution!

REEEEEEwind! (blog catch up: August 18)

By Emi • Sep 28th, 2008 • Category: On the Road

It is only because I am on the BEE tour that one week and one day before we are to arrive at our goal of Sata Misaki (the southern most point of Japan’s 4 main islands), it seems perfectly normal that I sit in the living room o a person I have never met, surrounded [...]

A house.  That’s right, BEE Japan 2008 have a whole HOUSE to ourselves.
The morning started like any other.  I jumped off Allan’s (our couchsurfer host) couch and rushed to the corner store to grab supplies for breakfast while the rest of the group tried their darndest to grab an extra few minutes of sleep.  Breakfast [...]

75 km uphill- Sept 3rd

By Emi • Sep 3rd, 2008 • Category: On the Road

We are exactly 1 month into our tour.  Wow! And what a way to celebrate: with a huge climb and delicious vegetarian goodness!
We all knew coming into today that the ride would be tough- climbing over 1000m in elevation over 65km, and tough it was!  But at the end of the day, we all made [...]

August 14th-17th: a long story

By Emi • Aug 21st, 2008 • Category: On the Road

I was supposed to write this entry two nights ago, but a head injury and eye explosion (two separate incidents) have kept me from completing this task.  And so here I sit, half naked whilst awaiting the washing machine to finish it’s job cleaning my filthy clothes trying to collect my thoughts on what has [...]

Goodbye Hokkaido – Emi

By Emi • Aug 13th, 2008 • Category: 2008, On the Road

Hokkaido: three words…Wind, sunshine and laughter.
As I awoke this morning, the last day we are to spend on this wonderful island, I am torn between feeling like this journey has hardly begun and a sense of familiarity and comfort that usually takes years to develop.
From our uncertain “false” starts in Wakkanai to the slew of [...]
