BEE Japan

Bicycle for Everyone’s Earth

Ashley

I was born and raised in Oregon (west coast of the U.S.) with a brief stint in Japanese kindergarten at the age of four. I attended university in Hawaii, coached womens high school soccer, volunteered with Leatherback seaturtle conservation in Costa Rica for a while, and decided to revisit the Japan of my childhood through the JET program. This will be my second and last year teaching with the program in Gifu prefecture. I'm interested in what motivates people to take, use, and waste less. I'm hoping to learn more about the ideas, concerns and environmental efforts of people across Japan at a grassroots level, and promoting their ideas to a broader audience when possible. I'm also just excited at the prospect of being outside for two months straight! Rain or shine. I play soccer, like to read, catch sunrises and sunsets, and do lots of running preferably by a river or an ocean. This will be my first long distance cyclilng trip. Suggestions welcome! ;)

Hi guys. The past three days have been pretty awesome We rolled in to Kyoto on the 11th for a presentation at Kyoto International School (K-9) which I found really rewarding. ** Our most common riding order is Lindsey in the front, followed by Salem, then me, and Rocio in the back –don’t ask me why! actually, Rocio rides in the back because she doesn’t like to signal ** Lindsey and Salem almost always prefer soy products, I milk or dairy, and Rocio is usually happy [...]
